Many Tools, One Goal
We utilize many tools in our business, each for a different reason, but toward the end result of each tool being the best for it’s particular job. We use HTML5, CSS3, LESS, Javascript, php, WordPress, iOS, JQuery and others. We are not expert in all of these areas – no one is, web technology is completely new every two years. We know when each is needed, and if an expert is required, we know who we can call on for the job. Media queries and JQuery can sometimes do amazing things with just a simple line of code, but many older mobile browsers cannot see them.
WordPress for Smart Phones is Backward
For example, WordPress is great at what it does, but a full install of WordPress contains nearly 2700 different pages of code. Each webpage includes at least several pages, and sometimes many dozens, and make many server calls, depending upon the task required. This is not difficult for a desktop machine hardwired by Ethernet to the Internet through a commercial account.
However, pushing the same data through a cellular data channel is another story. Even though the screen is smaller, the channel is much slower, and much worse in areas of poor reception, while the need for speed is much greater. Ironically, if you have an old, vertically-oriented website made before 2000 when screen resolution was small, you probably are ahead of the curve.
Most website builders create a beautiful fully featured desktop site, then pare this down with “display: none” lines in the CSS at the end of the file. We think this is upside-down. We believe the first call should be to the very short and sweet mobile index page, with a line of code to redirect desktop browsers and enhance their experience. This one line of code doesn’t slow down the desktop browser, but it increases the smartphone speed considerably.

Domains – We register your name with one of the domain name registrars. We have some expertise in finding a good name for a business, navigating the ins and outs of what is needed, finding a good name with an otherwise unknown TLD (Top Level Domain, such as .com or .edu). For example, most people (and businesses) do not need the .net, .mobi, .me and other forms of their domain name, they also don’t need anonymous registration, or most of the add-ons. However, it is a good idea to register your name for at least two years. We also set up the DNS (Domain Name System) forwarding to point your new domain to our servers.
